Chicago: Daily Press Book and Job Printing Office, 1857. Book. 8vo, orig. printed wrappers stitched.Pp. 136. Smoke stained along right margin of wrappers, running water stain and foxing within. A good copy. Rare pre-fire Chicago imprint, from the library of David Davis, eminent Illinois judge from Bloomington, and close friend and political ally of Abraham Lincoln, as indicated by the distinctive smoke damage - a fire in 1902 in Judge Davis' home damaged or destroyed much of his library, and surviving volumes are typically found like this.
