Marsh (engraved bookplate by W. F. Hopson). FIRST EDITION, second state (p. [52] unnumbered). Whittier's best-known, and most enduring poem, a long narrative work presented as a series of stories told by a family during a snowstorm, idealizing a return to peace after the Civil War.
