Description
Tokyo, 1974. Cloth. Near Fine. The uncommon 1974 true 1st edition --the Japanese edition-- of "Architecture and Urban Planning", the masterwork of Japan's legendary Pritzker-winning architect Kenzo Tange (1913-2005). TANGE HAS WARMLY INSCRIBED THIS COPY to the widow of Charles Engelhart (1917-1971), the renowned gold-mining and throroughbred-racing baron who many felt Ian Fleming had modelled his immortal character "Auric Goldfinger" after. This is a clean, very well-preserved copy to boot. Tight and Near Fine to Fine in its oatmeal cloth, with titling (in Japanese characters) along the front panel and spine. Folio, hundreds of crisp black-and-white and color photos throughout capturing the breadth of Tange's remarkable career. Also includes the publisher's printed card slipcase and thick stapled booklet of "English Captions of Kenzo Tange 'Architecture and Urban Planning'". Very scarce as such.

Washington, 1973. unbound. Fantastic Vietnam War T.L.S. 4to. 1 page, Congress of the United States, House of Representatives, Committee on Foreign Affairs, Washington, D.C., January 16th 1973, to Dr. Arthur Luce Klein, anticipating the historic Cease-Fire Agreement that will effectively end the War in Vietnam, ten days before the official announcement, in part: "...I very much appreciate your taking the time to express your concern over the policy which this nation has followed over the last month in Vietnam, including the renewed bombing of the North. Carpet bombing from high altitudes is by nature indiscriminate as between civilian and military targets; I have spoken out a number of times already against this, and I join you in the strongest opposition to this policy. This action, which reflected adversely on the United States in many quarters of the globe, was taken unilaterally and with neither consultation with nor the consent of Congress. As of this writing, we are once again awaiting news and hoping for a satisfactory cease-fire agreement. Hopefully by the time you receive this letter, a cease-fire will have been announced and even signed. As you know, I have sponsored legislation to cut off funds for the war. Please rest assured that I will continue to do all I can to end the destruction and to bring all of our men home without further delay..." Excellent condition. American politician who served as United States Ambassador to Israel from 1973-1975 and as a liberal-Republican turned Democrat Congressman from New York States.

Very good
Description
S. l. (Sacramento, CA): State Printing Office, 1943. Very good. Broadside; 11 x 8 1/2; off-white paper, printed in black and decorated with the Seal of California; a bit of wear and creasing to edges and faint intersecting creases; small stamp of a sporting goods shop to upper margin; in about very good condition. In June of 1943, the Federal War Production Board issued Order M-301, under which hunters were allowed to keep deer hides for their own use, but were asked to “forego such personal gratification” and were urged to instead donate them to the Government, for the manufacture of aviators’ gloves, headgear, and other equipment for the military. The current broadside, published under the auspies of then California Governor Earl Warren, described the order and outlined the ways for preserving the hides in the best possible condition - "Avoid dragging the animal," "Rub plenty of salt...," Do not expose to the sun...," and so on.
