Description
[Sebaldus Mayer, Dilingae], 1570. Quarto. Title in red; fleuron, rule, and date in black, text printed in red and black throughout, with musical staves printed in red; Finely printed on heavy paper. iii, A-Z4, a-o3, = 147 leaves. Quite scarce liturgical text with many musical notations. WorldCat lists only one copy of this edition, at the Zentral- und Hochschulbibliothek Luzern StandortSempacherstrasse in Lucerne, Switzerland. Karl Young noted also that there were copies at the British Library and the Quarr Abbey Library on the Isle of Wight. In honor of Cardinal Marcus Siticus whose uncle Pope Pius IV had made him a cardinal deacon before his formal appointment and becoming a chief legate to the Council of Trent. Bound in blind-stamped alum-tawed pigskin over wooden boards, finely rebacked and recornered in calf, raised bands with original pigskin spine laid down, two fine, functional, and early metal clasps that seem to have replaced the originals. Very nice.

Description
New Orleans: Simon and Schuster, 1935. First Edition. Fine. 1st edition, 1st printing. Neatly inscribed by Slesinger to her editor at Vanity Fair on the front endpaper: “To Frank Crowninshield / with a sophisticated bush / Tess Slesinger / May 8, 1935." Upper front corner lightly pushed, else clean and fine, dust jacket with light rubbing to the extremities, else near fine. This is Slesinger’s second book and first collection of short stories. Known for her only novel, “The Unpossessed” (1939) and the adapted screenplays for “The Good Earth” (1937), “Remember the Day” (1941) and “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” (1946). She was active with the leftist intellectual scene in 1930s New York and participated in founding the Screen Writers Guild. “Out-of-door shouts from another world floated, far-off and crazy, through the half-closed window; the veil of satisfaction trembled, shot through with sound.” The Answer (page 338).
