Description
New York City, New York, 2004. Hardcover. Near Fine. Oblong folio measuring 13" x 8.5". Black leather binder with gilt decorations. Contains 233 color photographs measuring between 6"x 4". Lightly bumped corners with rubbing on the spine, near fine with fine photographs. A photo album of pictures taken at the New York Pride Parade in 2004. The album first shows a couple photos of Chuck Schumer, a democratic senior United States Senator from New York, a seat he was first elected to in 1998. Schumer can be seen smiling, interacting with the crowd, and speaking on a megaphone. The crowd is full of people young and old, ranging from any and every culture in colorful costumes and makeup. Some people are dressed in large feather hats with huge plumes; others wear next to nothing with only leather and glitter to cover themselves. Several photos are of leather pride community members in their full gear. There are photographs of drag queens and show girls. One of the outfits shows a drag queen in a super hero outfit, while another is dressed in a glamourous glittering pink gown. People of any gender are also seen topless and marching alongside the parade. While the photos are often candid, they are well-shot and catch but a glimpse of how large and diverse the parade was. Several people can also be seen holding up signs condemning former President Bush and his decision to go overseas to Afghanistan, many of which wish for love and peace rather than war. Some of the signs are humorous with quotes like, "Less Killing More Fucking," and "We want anal penetration not Israeli occupation". An interesting album filled with vibrant and well-shot photographs from the 2004 New York Pride Parade.
