Inscribed by German General Bodo Zimmermann, the first edition of Book of Honor: The German Wehrmacht - The World War 1939-1945.. Octavo, xxxi, 243pp, [3], 95pp, 104pp, [2], [viii]. General Bodo Zimmermann (1886-1963) was a German general during World War II and one of the few receipts of two German Crosses (Silver and Gold). During World War II, he commanded forces on the Western Front, first as Generalstabsoffizier of Army Group D, and was later promoted to lieutenant colonel (Oberstleutnant). In June of 1944, Zimmermann was the Operations Officer in charge of forces in the Western Sector when he received notification that Rommel's Fifteenth Army was on alert for an attack from Allied Forces. He failed to put the German Seventh Army, which was defending Normandy, on alert "because of the weather." Zimmermann was held in prison until 1947, and in retirement wrote two books on his military career.

Thomas, Artus, and Ragneau. Binding slightly worn, rubbed, and bumped. First Edition. First performed in Paris at the Théâtre National de l'Opéra-Comique on 23 November 1893, under Léon Carvalho. "[Bruneau's] ideas in general were constantly challenging tradition and his admiration for Wagner was based on his view that Wagner was the great liberator of 19th-century music. Although he used leitmotifs and owed a great deal to Wagner's chromatic language, his music is far less Wagnerian than that of many of his contemporaries and in his later music he used a plurality of musical languages and effects. [His] writings on music include important memoirs of Zola (Paris, 1932), a book on Massenet (Paris, 1935), essays outlining his own theory of opera (notably in Le Figaro and Rivista musicale italiana in 1897), and perceptive comments on other operas in reviews and articles." Richard Langham Smith in Grove Music Online.
