Original colour printed wrappers. With colour illustrations a.o. photo-montages, throughout, all designed by Piet Zwart. (2), 49, (1 blank) pp. Interesting collection of promotional material designed by Dutch Constructivists. Ad 1: Educational book intended for youngsters, elaborating on how to use the Dutch Postal service (PTT) and telephone. It is one of the most famous creations of Piet Zwart (1885-1977), one of the most versatile Dutch designers of the first part of the 20th- century. Next to being a photographer and typographer, he also designed the Bruynzeel Kitchen. From 1919 until 1933 he was a teacher at the art academy at Rotterdam.Ad 3: This promotional broadside was published on the occasion of the opening of the new building of the publishing house De Arbeiderspers at Hekelveld Amsterdam. Especially the title-page shows the use of the photomontage typical for the Dutch Constructivists.Ad 4 & 5:. Fine copy. Paperback. 3 5/8" X 2 1/4". 16pp. Bound in sewn printed wraps with vignette of a horse to upper wrap, with splitting to spine reinforced with archival adhesive. Moderate wear to wraps, with dust soiling, edgewear, and stain to spine and bottom corner intruding into text block. Occasional crease to age-toned but otherwise unmarked pages. Illustrated in two full-page, six small woodcuts, cover and title page illustration of a pony, and two tracery designs serving as headpiece and tailpiece to the poem "The Little Colt" on the last two pages following the narrative. An admittedly worn but still solid and complete copy of this chapbook starring Santa Claus, about a boy who wishes for a horse for Christmas.
