Description: Paris: Louis Janet, 1812-14-18 These almanacs were printed from 1812 to 1826. The literary editor was Charles Malo (1790-1871), who was known for publishing various series, often aimed at women. In addition to almanachs, he published popular volumes on natural history and geography. The 1812 volume is in original blue glazed boards; the 1814 is in contemporary (original?) red silk, gilt; and the 1818 volume is in original pink glazed boards. All edges gilt. All three are in matching or color-coded pull-off board slipcase with matching designs. Three volumes, 5 x 3 1/8." 143. Engraved vignettes on title-pages, each volume with several engraved plates Some rubbing and soiling. Joints of the 1814 volume starting, but sound. One edge of the slipcase for the 1814 volume has come off and is inserted, along with a ribbon marker. Some light foxing. Twentieth-century bookplate in each volume. Overall in very good condition, particularly for such a fragile group. OCLC lists no library that has anywhere near a complete run; the only libraries with several volumes in the series are in Europe, according to their findings. Of the volumes represented, we found the 1812 volume at McGill, and the 1814 and 1818 volumes only at German and Dutch libraries
