Description
Rovigo: Miazzi, 1808. Original edition. Very Good. Octavo (22 cm); [2 blank], 9, [5 blank] pages. Bound in polychrome woodblock-stamped paper wraps. Wrapper detaching at fold. Poetry in heroic meter (rima ottava) written for the wedding of Alessandro Paganelli and Giuseppa Rosetta, together with a sonnet for Giuseppa's mother, Angela Patella Rosetta. Printed in the Venetian satellite city of Rovigo, the name of the poet ("D.B.P.") and the site of the wedding are not stated. Who was Alessandro Paganelli? Oddly enough, the question came up recently when a reporter for Il Messaggero found a stele dedicated to the memory of Paganelli in the wall of a state-run health care office in Rome, but renovations to the building had obscured half the plaque behind an aluminum panel.
