Description
Np; (1993): J. D'Ambrosio. Limited Edition. Large Quarto. Limited to only 25 copies. The present copy is number 10 and signed by D'Ambrosio. Vii(viii), 57(1) pp. The handmade paper is by Madeleine Pestiaux, photography by Wallace Rhodes and model by David Michael Solomon. The original purpose of the exploration which prompted this work was to investigate the conflict of civil rights in today's society. As the reader may see, the results of this experiment evolved into chaos, from which all life is made and upon which it seems to thrive. Illustrated in color. The book itself was made with raised statue simulating Michaelangelo's David. First, the cover shows a block of stone, upon opening, the stone is found on the first page, then the following 3 pages will show the various carving forms of David in raised form. The photographs depict the model used for David. The type set is brilliant. Bound by D'Ambrosio in cream leather over raised paper and with 4 raised illustrations that fit within each page. Housed within publisher's cloth covered clamshell.

Description
Boston: Printed and Sold by William M'Alpine, 1766. 16mo. 12 leaves (complete). Loose, light edge wear, toned, Good+. This Almanac celebrates the Stamp Act's repeal with a patriotic preface by Ames, lauding Americans' "exertion of that noble spirit of Freedom, which every thinking honest Man that has ever been galled with the chain of slavery is possessed of-- a spirit which GOD grant no tyrant may ever be able to extinguish amongst us." He encourages Nationalism, so "that when ever a Virginian shall visit this part of the Land of Freedom you will be no niggard of Hospitality." Ames denounces the "absolute and despotick sway" of the Pope, pities Europeans thus benighted, and recommends popular education so that "the common people" will not be "slaves" to aristocrats. The Almanac has a table of distances of New England towns from Boston, "with the most noted Houses of Entertainment on the Roads." Evans 10224. Drake 3150.
