Description
New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1942. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo; original black cloth (corners bumped), paper spine label; lacking DJ. Contains an early published play by Tennessee Williams "The Lady of Larkspur Lane," in addition to plays by Archibald Macleish, Maxwell Anderson, William Saroyan, Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur. Precedes an anthology of poetry published by New Directions in 1944 that is often stated to be Williams' first book appearance. This copy signed by Williams: "Tennessee" in green ink on the front flyleaf, below a curious, early 1942 inscription that reads "To Steen From Karen and Mister." This book is rarely found signed by Tennessee Williams.
