Description
New York: Sotheby's. Near Fine. (c.2003). First Edition. Softcover. [light soiling to covers, minor handling wear, slight bump and soft diagonal crease at upper right corner of front cover (looks worse in the scanned image than to the naked eye); internally clean]. (color photographs) Massive 474-page catalogue for the auction of renowned designer Bill Blass's collection of -- well, you name it: furniture, antiques, art, sculpture, porcelain, silver, bric-a-brac and tchotkes of all sorts. The sale, held over three days, was a smash hit: virtually every one of the 805 lots was sold, with the total take being a little bit north of $13.6 million, more than double the pre-auction high estimate. And they weren't through yet: near the end of the catalogue are full-page ads for three upcoming auctions that also included property from the Blass collection, focusing on Old Master Paintings, Impressionist & Modern Art, and Latin American Art. .

Description
Cincinnati: Published for the Author / Robinson & Fairbank--Printers, 1831. First Edition. Octavo (20cm.); removed; 19pp. Large dampstain to title page (serving as upper cover) only slightly bleeding through to following leaf, light foxing throughout, else Very Good and sound. Contemporary gift inscription of a Samuel Chandler to title page. Tract published in the year following the dissolution of the Presbyterian Church's Plan of Union, which proposed uniting the frontier missionary efforts of the Congregational and Presbyterian Churches in the early years of the 19th century. Wilson, the Calvinist pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, was a vocal opponent of the plan, and here argues that the American Home Missionary Society, as a civil institution, "by interference and importunity...disturbs the peace and injures the prosperity of the Presbyterian Church."
