Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1896. First Edition. 8vo., 66pp.; VG; bound in mustard yellow cloth, gilt lettering on spine, silver, tan, gilt, and black image on front board; some shelfwear, smudging to boards; some age-toning t endpapers; profusely illustrated; text block red; Wright is perhaps better known for his 1939 novel 'Gadsby', which was purported to have been written entirely without the letter 'e' (with only four mistakes in fifty thousand words). Leiden: Jacobi Carteron, 1667. With engraved title; decorated initials. Contemporary limp vellum, spine and back cover torn, with a small hole to front cover. Ownership inscription of Paulo Paulacci to title, ownership stamp of Notaro Carlo Marcucci Lucca to verso of title, another contemporary ownership inscription to end-paper. Perhaps otherwise unexampled publication of the widow of Jacques Carteron. Two other books associated with her firm give an approximate date to the Statius. These belong respectively to 1666 (A. Pliny's Quaestiones agitatae inter Thomistas et Molinistas) and 1668 (Ovid's Metamorphoses).
