Boston: L. Prang & Co., Publishers of Prang's American Chromos, 2182 Washington St, 1872. Boards. Very good +. [CASE MAP] [SOUVENIR]. Case title: Prang's Map of Boston. Case: 4 7/8" x 3 3/8"; rust-colored cloth over board, blind-stamped borders, gilt-stamped title to front; fine. Map: 23 ¼" x 26 7/8" sheet size; 15 ¼" x 25 ¾" within the neat line; printed by lithography, hand colored; splits at some folds and fold intersections, light creasing to bottom edge; very good plus. Case map front pastedown is a souvenir gift announcement printed by color lithography in the style of a calling card: Presented to the Representatives of the Press at the World's Peace Jubilee by the Publisher, with an advertisement for Prang's Art Publishing House in Boston, and its opening hours. Celebrating the end of the Franco-Prussian War, the World's Peace Jubilee and International Music Festival was held Back Bay area of Boston, starting on June 17, 1872 and running for 18 days. This souvenir map published by Prang & Co. shows Boston before the November 9 and 10 great fire.
