Two typed sheets in English from the publisher on flyleaf explaining the genesis and meaning of the book, with English index list of the illustrations tipped in over the Polish index in the back. 8 text pages in Polish followed by the full page color illustrations by Polish children. First edition on the English explanation stated as 1955 with 10,000 copies. However, title page states publication date of 1954; copyright page states 1955. Some of the drawings are from the German occupation, and others are post-WWII. Powerful and poignant drawings. Hardcover book in blue cloth is in fine conditon. DJ in good condition in spite of some repaired tears. Otherwise fine. Attached to the end papers is a complete typed 2 page description of the contents in English. Also a loose letter describing the involvement of the Polish Embassy in sending this book to patrons. The last 4 pages is an index also in English of the titles of all 101 illustrations by the children. A very nice presentation copy with unusual additions by the Embassy of Poland.
