Description
New York: St. Martin's Press. Near Fine. (c.1986). First Edition. Softcover. [a bit of wear along spine, no other significant wear]. Trade PB (B&W photographs, facsimiles) Sort of a "films of" approach to the topic, with an introductory historical-background section (covering silent precursors, censorship by the Hays Office, and the career of Kroger Babb, the "Master of Exploitation"), followed by a chronological survey of the specifically teenage-oriented films of the 50s and 60s, divided into four periods: "I Was a Teenage Moneymaker" (1954-1958); "The Lost Years" (1959-1962); "Beach Blanket Boffo" (1963-1966); and "The Protest Trip" (1967-1969). Each of these sections includes a filmography, giving basic credits and some descriptive matter about each film. The majority of the book's illustrations are reproductions of posters and other advertising art for the movies. .
