Description
[Hollywood]: Twentieth Century Fox, 1978. Vintage original film press kit, printed portfolio, 12 x 9" (31 x 23 cm.), with 10 8 x 10" (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white print still photos laid in, and fifteen promotional inserts, of between 1 and 3 pp. in length. Some wear to extremities of the printed folder, a few circlings of text in pencil, overall near fine in very good+ printed portfolio wrappers. Paul Mazursky wrote and directed Jill Clayburgh in this classic feminist film. "Erica is unmarried only temporarily, in that her successful, wealthy husband of seventeen years has just left her for a girl he met while buying a shirt in Bloomingdale's. This movie shows Erica coming to terms with the break-up, while revising her opinions of herself, redefining that self in its own right rather than as an extension of somebody else's personality, and finally going out with another man. Erica refuses to drop everything for Saul, an abstract expressionist painter, simply out of love for him, because he expects her to. It is not so much loneliness that is her problem, and the problems that men, flitting around this newly 'available' woman like moths round a flame, bring to her sense of independence." (Wikipedia)

The last major book of the Grabhorn Press, "Alamos" is a collection of photographs by Richard Elkus, capturing the poetry of the town of Alamos in Mexico; the photographs, a mix of landscapes and portraits, have a gritty serenity and a real sense of the character of the town. The titles of each photograph, printed on the preceding pages, resonate with a poetry rich with description. ___DESCRIPTION: Quarter brown suede with orange, beige, and tan linen boards, title blind-embossed on the front board, fore-edge rough cut, title page in red and black, twenty-four black-and-white photographs tipped in throughout, all versos blank; Goudy Modern type, machine-made paper, elephant folio size (17" by 13"), approximately 100 unnumbered pages, one of 487 copies, this number 83, signed by Richard Elkus, Robert and Edwin Grabhorn on the colophon. Loosely laid in is the prospectus, one sheet folded once, with a horizontal crease. ___CONDITION: Volume is just about fine; the covers clean, the corners straight and unrubbed, the binding tight with solid hinges, the interior clean and bright, and free of prior owner markings; a hint of sunning to the front board and a bit of fraying to the cloth where it meets the leather shelfback, else fine. The prospectus also near fine, clean, without wear except for a couple very small, shallow creases at the horizontal mailing fold. ___CITATION: Grabhorn Press Bibliography no. 653. ___POSTAGE:  Please note that this is an unusually large and heavy book, and therefore additional postage may apply; please inquire for details. ___Swan's Fine Books is pleased to be a member of the ABAA, ILAB, and IOBA and we stand behind every book we sell.
