Good plus.
Description
Chihuahua, 1910. Good plus.. 35pp. Original printed wrappers, stapled. Moderate wear to corners and spine. Light tanning. An evidently unrecorded "state of the state" report by the governor of Chihuahua to its state legislature on the 100th anniversary of the Mexican declaration of independence and the eve of the Mexican revolution. The document covers budgetary issues, developments in public education, industrial growth, construction of transportation and communication, and more, including the establishment of an emigration office in Ciudad Juarez. Interestingly, it does not disclose any inkling of the uprising led by Pancho Villa that began in Chihuahua less than two months later. Not in OCLC.

Description
New York: The Dial Press, 1977. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Quarto [26 cm] Orange cloth over boards. In a price-clipped dust jacket with light soiling and rubbing. Another collaboration from the creators of the 1976 Caldecott Medal Winner "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears." From the dust jacket- "The illustrations show the story presented in the form of a play performed before their fellow villagers by Masai actors wearing animal masks. The costumes, terrain, and jewelry are typical of the Masai; the masks are an artistic invention. They change expressions as the play progresses, showing anger, fear, merriment in a way that could only happen in the realm of fantasy.
