Rostyslav Endyk (1906 - 1974) was a Ukrainian anthropologist, author, journalst, educator, politician, and full member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. Some of his most notable scientific books included studies of the anthropology of Ukrainians, including "Anthropological features of the Ukrainian people" (1934) and "Introduction to the racial structure of Ukraine" (1949). After escaping Ukraine at the begining of WWI, he lived and worked in Krakow and then in Germany, contributing to several emigre journals in Europe and in the US and writing numerous collections of short stories, including the current, epic poem, one of his best-known works, published in a DP (displaced persons) camp in Germany.
