Description
Toronto - Ottawa: Studium Research Institute, 1966. First Edition. Very good. Alternate title from from wrap and second title page in English: "Pro iliustratsiiu dytiachoi knyzhky" (On Illustrating Children's Books). First edition; 10 x 6 1/2; pp. [2], 5-75, [3]; green wraps, printed in black; illustrated with color plates and black and white facsimile drawings and illustrations; age-toning and mild foxing to margins of wraps, else minor wear; in very good condition. With a summary in English. Bohdan Stebelskyi (1911 - 1994) was a graphic artist, painter, journalist, activist, and member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society, including as Chairman of the society's branch in Canada. He immigrated to Toronto in 1949, where he edited the Homin Ukrainy newspaper and wrote several works on art. His current book was an authoritative study of children's illustrations, both by- and for them, and the psychology of drawing, with numerous examples from unknown little artists and from major Ukrainian artists and illustrators. Few copies at institutions; none other in the trade.
