Paris: Henri Vivien, 1900. Limited Edition. Large Octavo. Limited to only 45 copies. Produced by a member of La Sabretache, a French society of military history studies. Hand-colored title page, regular title page, hand colored frontispiece and three other hand-colored plates. The catalogue lists every plate in order as they appear in French military costume books. Many editions have only three colored plates. The plates here are:Tambour-Major des Gardes Suisses sous Louis XVI; [2] Hoffman, timbalier de la Musique des Gardes Francaises en petit uniforme, 1786; Martinet,Tambour des Cent-Suisses maison ; Weiland, Officier de Chasseurs (infanterie Legere) en 1808. Bound by J. Chevron (with his ticket) in 1/4 dark green morocco over French marbled paper covered boards and marbled endpapers, spine has evenly changed to brown, raised bands with compartment lettered and decorated in gilt. A very good copy with a bit of toning and some scattered foxing, mostly marginal.
