Title leaf is tanned, else the text and plates are in fine condition, laid into fine publisher's cloth-backed chemise, and (unprinted) paper-covered slipcase box [the slipcase box has light wear and thin chipping at extremities, but has protected the plates quite well]. First edition. pp. [ii](title leaf), [iv], [5]-20(text); [xcii][i.e. 92 loose leaves of black-and-white plates, printed on rectos only](. Inscribed, and signed, by Sidney Cockerell (in upper margin of title leaf): "To Leonard Holder, from S. C. Cockerell. Christmas 1928" [Sidney Cockerell was a noted collector, secretary to William Morris, executor to Thomas Hardy, and served as director of the Fitzwilliam Museum, in Cambridge (between 1908-1937); Leonard Holder was a colleague, serving as principal assistant at the Fitzwilliam Museum].
