Headquarter Cavalry Depot, Department Washington D.C. An autograph letter signed Siegfried Neumann. During the Civil War, Neumann wrote an affectionate Valentines Day message to his wife back home in Newark, New Jersey. My dear Elisabeth Though we should dwell far, far apart and Rivers between us roll I still thou shall swell within my heart And light my inmost soul And you shall be my proudest prize and neer forgot shall be Yes while the Star of life doth rise I will remember thee. Hoping to hear from you soon I am your affectionate Husband Siegfried Neumann. Neumann attached a lock of his hair just below the signature. The letter is in very good condition with toning; it include the original mailing envelope that is in good condition.
