Description
London: Faber & Faber, 1996. First printing. Near fine.. First edition of this unconventional diary, with a bookplate signed by Eno from his friend Stewart Brand's Global Business Network Book Club. Diary for 1995 of Eno, who decided to keep a record of the year at the end of the previous, together with the 'swollen appendices' of the title: a collection of essays, stories, interviews, correspondence, and other documents included in the last quarter of the book (and printed on different colored stock to emphasize the point). The diary covers a productive time for Eno, in which among other events he worked with both U2 and David Bowie. This copy was distributed to members of the Global Business Network, an organization founded by WHOLE EARTH CATALOG editor Stewart Brand, and signed by Eno on their bookplate. Brand and Eno were friends and their correspondence about the Bosnian conflict is included throughout this book. YEAR remains one of the most extended artistic and biographical documents from the hugely influential artist, writer, musician, and producer. It was reissued in a 25th anniversary edition. The true first, however, remains uncommon, and it is decidedly scarce signed. 6.5'' x 5''. Original color pictorial wraps featuring a photograph by Anton Corbijn. 424 pages. Signed by Brian Eno on a "GBN [Global Business Network] Book Club" bookplate tipped to the half-title. Some faint reading creases to front wrap, trace shelfwear. Overall clean, bright, and sharp.

Description
[Chalchuapa, El Salvador, 1876. Still very good.. [3]pp., on a bifolium. Folio. Crinkling and minor wear at edges. Faint dampstain to upper right corner. The president of Guatemala, Justo Rufino Barrios, invaded El Salvador in 1876, following the presidential election there. Barrios suspected that both the elected and former presidents had been harboring Guatemalan opponents to his regime, and hope to install someone more favorable. The present "political plan" for El Salvador reads more as an indictment of the two leaders, Santiago Gonzalez and Andres del Valle, than an as organizing document for a new government. The first signer here is Rafael Zaldivar, the choice of Barrios for next president of El Salvador, and the work was printed in the field at Chalchuapa on April 10, 1876, approximately one week before the decisive battles that forced the capitulation of the Salvadoran government. Not in OCLC.
