Very good plus.
Description
London and Glasgow: Collins' Clear-Type Press, 1928. Very good plus.. First edition of this large-format story of a white Scotty dog puppy who gets into all sorts of trouble on a farm. Cecil Aldin loved dogs both as a topic for illustration and a career, caring for hunting dogs as an official Master of Fox Hounds. The illustrations in PUPPY-DOG FROLICS were originally used in the smaller-format GYP'S HOUR OF BLISS, but they have here been re-colored and re-captioned. This is an unusual title in Aldin's canine oeuvre. 13'' x 9.5''. Original cloth-backed red, white, and black pictorial boards. 16 full-page color illustrations with red borders and two black-and-white line drawings. [18] pages. Gift inscription to front flyleaf, dated May 28th 1929. Boards with light edgewear, bumping to corners and spine ends; some soil to edges of rear board. Subtle strengthening hinges and leaves at gutters. A couple tiny areas of soil to margins. Colors bright.

Description
[Laguna Beach, California: Laguna Verde Imprenta, 1975 One of about forty copies. "Printed on an 1853 Albion hand press by Ward Ritchie in his first experiment with nature printing." . Green printed wrappers, stitched at spine, with leaf print and title to front wrapper, which exhibits slight creasing at edges. . Octavo. Illustrated with black and white leaf prints super-imposed over variously colored block backgrounds. Laguna Verde Imprenta colophon. Light toning to wrappers' edges. Presentation copy, inscribed to Jake Zeitlin from Ward Ritchie in the month of publication. A very good copy. From Ritchie's introduction: "Carlyle Ferren MacIntyre was a lyric poet. He was a brilliant man. Words were his life. Whether he was talking or writing, they came forth clear, incisive and picturesque. He loved his stage, on which he always managed to be the principal character. As a professor of English Literature at Occidental College, UCLA and Berkeley he influenced several generations of students…I recently found these poems of MacIntyre's buried in correspondence four decades now past, to be here printed many years after his death." MacIntyre (d. 1967) is primarily remembered for his translations of Baudelaire, Verlaine, George, Goethe, and Rilke.

Signed and numbered by Donald Abbott on limitation page. 1991 Hard Cover. 110, [8] pp. Illustrations by author throughout. "When carnival ventriloquist Oscar Diggs finds himself adrift in a hot air balloon, he has no idea how much his life is about to change. For when the balloon finally lands, he finds himself in the marvelous Land of Oz! Hailed as a wizard, he is met with joy by the good people of Oz and hatred by the land's two wicked witches. How Oscar eventually fights off the witches, builds the fabulous Emerald City, and establishes himself as the wonderful Wizard of Oz is a story sure to enthrall Oz lovers of all ages. Donald Abbott has created a delightful tale about Oz in the days before a cyclone first brought Dorothy Gale of Kansas to that fabled fairyland. Filled with striking black-and-white illustrations, styled after W.W. Denslow's famous pictures for L. Frank Baum's first Oz story, How the Wizard Came to Oz is a wonderful new addition to the Oz series.
