Description
First UK Edition; A Near Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket. Typed Letter SIGNED by the author on his stationary laid in. This is the very scarce 1st UK edition; although not the true first (the US was published shortly beforehand), the UK is super rare to find in collectible condition, particularly in the ORIGINAL jacket with no restoration or repair; a truly unique item and a must for the 20th century mystery collector! This novel is on the Modern Library list of 100 greatest novels and is the basis for many film and screen adaptations. This copy is in near fine condition with a square, tight binding, clean yellow boards with bold black lettering, and crisp, off-white to white pages; age spotting is present to the exterior text block and free papers and only light shelf wear to the board edges, else fine. Housed in a near fine dust jacket that is remarkably free of any rubbing or chipping but does show minor discoloration and soiling to the back panel, spine, and flap edges (please see scans for flaws). Not price clipped or ex-library. Overall, a superb copy that is in a one of a kind dust jacket; easily the nicest copy of this edition on the market as of this writing, nicely enhanced with the TLS included. Protected in a fresh mylar cover and ships in a sturdy box.

The contents of this tract are of interest to the constitutional historian for two reasons. First, it illustrates the great importance of the work of scholars of the period to the constitutional controversies. Secondly, it shows that Royalist absolutism was worked out in detail before the Civil War ...." [Laslett. PATRIARCHA, p. 128]. Description
(London): New English Library / Times Mirror, 1980. First printing. Very good.. Scarce first edition of this final entry in Allen's SKINHEAD series. Prolific pulp writer James Moffatt - often writing under one of his many pseudonyms - published hundreds of pulp novels in his lifetime, but none more commercially successful than the provocative SKINHEAD series of "youthsploitation" novels. Centered on on the exploits of the terminally delinquent Joe Hawkins (the Skinhead in question) the series is rife with sex crimes, violence, sentiments of racial hatred, and general thuggery. This volume, the final of the series, follows Hawkins's son against the backdrop of the Mod-revival subculture. 7'' x 4.25''. Original color photographic wrappers. 180 pages. Some wear, shallow cut to bottom edge, else sturdy and sound.

Jena:: Gustav Fischer, 1905., 1905. 8vo. viii, 152 pp. Original orange printed wrappers; spine mended with kozo. Rubber stamp on cover « Rezensionsexemplar » [review copy]. Good. First edition (three editions were issued by 1920). Nine lectures on the philosophy of medicine (the title says history, but it isn't really that!). / "Dr. E. Schwalbe is professor of general pathology and pathological anatomy in Rostock. His book is very different from the others, the aim of it being philosophical or propedeutic rather than historical. It is obviously the outgrowth of lectures given to medical students and the emphasis is laid on the evolution of medical theories. Biography is reduced to a minimum. The professor's main purpose has been to explain to his students how the ideas which now dominate medical thought and practice have slowly been developed." – review by George Sarton, ISIS, vol. 4, no.3, April, 1922. / Dedicated to Professor Dr. Julius Arnold on the occasion of his seventieth birthday. / Ernst Theodor Carl Schwalbe was a German pathologist, Heidelberg. He was killed during the 1920 Kapp Putsch, an attempted coup against the German national government in Berlin
