With a few exceptions they have never been exhibited or reproduced. The plates were made directly from the originals.

He graduated from Harvard University in 1952 and began his career working for The New Yorker, where he received two O. Henry Awards for his short-stories. His most famous works are First Love and Other Sorrows, The Runaway Soul, which took him 32 years to complete, and This Wild Darkness: The Story of My Death, which is about his struggle with AIDS, which he died from in 1996.
