Early appearance of one of Ulises Carrión’s short stories, this was his second appearance in Anuario del Cuento Mexicano. “El asalto” had been published the previous year in Revista Mexican de Literatura (Nos. 11-12). Syracuse, N.Y.: Merrell-Soule Co, 1898. Booklet, stapled in wrappers (12.5 x 10 cm.), 24 pages. Color-illustrated. Evident FIRST EDITION; a shorter edition of 15 pages was issued in 1925. A promotional booklet advertising products in the None Such line. Ten pages of the "Mindreader" game are followed by seven pages of recipes for dishes made with None Such products, including soup, mince meat, and pumpkin, followed by pages of premiums, mostly games, dolls toys, silverware, etc., which could be be obtained by sending some number of "heads of the girls" (part of the product packaging). Some light soiling; wrapper partially split at crease. Still near very good. Scarce. [OCLC locates no copies of this, and just one copy of a later (1925) 15 page edition].
