Fine. Frame: Very Good
Description
New York, 1939. Fine. Frame: Very Good. The photo captures something of the Futurist theme of the Fair. It has a purplish color suggestive of an eclipse and darkness in daylight. The Trylon and Perisiphere -- the monumental symbols and focal points of the fair -- are silhouetted, as also the statuary lined along the reflecting pool. The photo measures 34 by 26 cm. (We are not counting its margins.) We don't know who the photographer was, whether the photo was done professionally or by an amateur, or even whether it was printed in 1939 or is a later copy. The frame is definitely later, of a composition material, clearly not expensive, yet tasteful and appropriate for the particular photo. The frame has some surface pitting concentrated in a small area. If one likes the frame, the damage such as it is is unlikely to cause much anguish. The frame is structurally sound.
