Description
[Pittsburgh]: Printed by Smith Bros. Co, 1946. Hardcover. Very Good. 11 parts invidually numbered (ccomplaint, lots of brief, affidavits, injunction bond, opinions, assignment of errors). Tan cloth library binding with leather title labels mounted on spine. 23 cm. "Labor Law Library" stamped in red ink inside front cover. Carnegie-Illinois sought an injunction against certain alleged illegal actions by the striking union. The injunction was granted based on affadavits rather than actual testimony and subsequently upheld on appeal by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Western District (2-1 with a strong dissent). Amicus briefs opposing the injunction were filed by National Lawyer's Guild, American Civil Liberties Union and District Council No.1, U. E. R. M. W. A. and F. T. A., CIO. The complaint was filed in January, 1946. The lower's court's action was upheld in April, 1946. This book came to us indirectly from the library of the deceased son of a later named partner in the law firm which represented the plaintiff in this case.
