"I was much interested in the account of the Snow banks, & hard weather. I am not as warm as you may suppose. It's much too cold here to shave early in the morning...I am really living in a kind of cold storage not too hot to spoil & not cold enough to freeze. I would like to be in Portland long enough to buy an orange - cannot find any here...Nothing but wild cats." He signs, "Winslow Homer." With a photographic postcard of the grocery story.
