Description
Guildford Surrey: Genesis Publications Limited, 1980. First edition. Fine/Fine. Number 1899 of 2000 copies, signed by George Harrison on the limitation page. An exceptionally clean, fresh copy, still with the original plain paper dust wrapper. Book pristine. Slipcase with one little spot to paper the label, otherwise Fine. Paper dust wrapper with some creasing and small tears at the spine due to the raised bands of the book underneath. With the publisher's letter to the subscriber. Rare to find in such an original state. Taking its name from the last track the Beatles recorded on before their breakup, I Me Mine is a nontraditional memoir by one of rock music's greats-the singer-songwriter and guitarist George Harrison. Interspersed with photographs and including an important section of reproductions of his handwritten lyrics accompanied by an explanation of each song, the book is a window into Harrison's artistry and ideology. The book also caused some controversy at the time of its publication: John Lennon was displeased that he was not given more credit as a musical inspiration or collaborator, Harrison felt the charge could be equally levied at Lennon himself. Fine in Fine dust jacket.

Description
N.p.: Powers Bros, 1895. Very Good -. N.p.: Powers Bros., 1895. Original wooden educational wall fixture (ca. 74x52cm.); complete with spinning scroll in twenty-three frames, each measuring ca. 17x48cm (or ca. 391x48cm. if completely unfurled); the first thirteen frames are printed in negative white over black, the following five are black on a white background, the final five are printed in color on a white background. Below the scroll are eight small compartments of varying sizes for holding chalk, pens and pencils (not present here). Earliest frames of the scroll quite worn with several large losses to the alphabet frames, dark dampstaining throughout. The frame itself remains in sturdy condition and the knobs turn the scroll easily. A Good to Very Good example. Variant of the popular late 19th-century teaching tool, first patented in 1885 though the copyright date repeated on most of the frames of this example are for 1895. The concept of a moveable household blackboard for children was first proposed at an educational Chautauqua assembly in the 1880s. Panels depict the alphabet (both print and cursive), easy arithmetic, flowers, animals, famous figures (Washington, Mikado Mutsuhito), a view of the recently-completed Brooklyn Bridge, and different drawing styles and color treatments and developments. The final panel of the scroll depicts a view of the Chautauqua Institute's Athenaeum Hotel, completed in 1881 and located on Lake Chautauqua in upstate New York. Reference: OCLC no. 52184781 (Penn State only).

Description
New York, 1868. Unbound. Very good. This certificate for ten shares of stock in the Merchants Union Express Company, measuring approximately 11½" x 8¾", was issued to Ketchum Clark of New York on October 16, 1868. It is signed by ''J.N. Knapp'' as Secretary and ''A. P. Ross'' as President. It features a classic central vignette showing an express wagon full of freight being pulled by four racing horses with freight train, ship, and factory in the background. It is franked with a pen-canceled 25-cent Washington revenue stamp (Scott #R44). In nice shape with some wear at the corners. The American Express Company was formed in 1850 with the consolidation of three companies that transported goods, valuables, and specie between New York City, Buffalo, and cities in the Midwest: the Livingston Fargo and Company, Wells & Company, and Butterfield & Watson. Wells served as president and Fargo as secretary. By the end of the Civil War, although American Express had prospered and grown to 900 offices in ten states, Knapp and Ross saw that it was also bloated and overextended. They formed the Merchants Union Express Company in 1867, immediately invaded American Express territory and began to pickoff its employees and staff. They also launched a cutthroat fight-to-the-death price war and rapidly captured a devastating amount of American Express's customers. Although forced to spend almost all of their capital, the strategy was successful, and Merchant's Union forced the financially exhausted American Express into a merger. On November 25, 1868, the two firms combined to form the American Merchants Union Express Company. Although Wells was named president, Ross and Knapp held the new company's Secretary and Treasurer positions. Five years later, the company rechristened itself, changing its name back to the better known American Express Company. This certificate was issued just a little over one month before the companies merged. . (For more information, see "Merchants Union Express Co." at scripophily.com and "American Express Company" at the online Encyclopedia Britannica.) Pre-merger Merchants Union certificates occasionally are listed at and other online scripophily venues. .

Description
Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, (1998). First Edition. Octavo, softbound (slick, full-color illus. wrappers), 343 pp. Fine. From lower cover: Beyond the Four Corners of the World is the story of Ella Bedonie, a remarkable Navajo woman struggling to find her place in the world. We follow her from her childhood tending sheep in the high desert canyons of the Navajo reservation to the long, frightening ride to boarding school, and on into the white man’s world and a college degree. We meet her parents and grandparents, who live and worship their gods much as their ancestors have done for centuries. We meet her husband and her children, whose lives straddle two worlds, ancient and modern, sacred and profane, and we see how the family’s careful balance of tradition and modernity is threatened when a government relocation program uproots them from their reservation home.
