[IN FRENCH] Jules Huret (1863-1915) was a French journalist known for his interviews with writers, including Emile Zola, Guy de Maupassant, and Anatole France. He also published a work about Sarah Bernhardt. Around age 50, he began making international voyages, including to the United States. In 1904, he published a book of travel from New York to New Orleans, followed in 1905 by this travelogue from San Francisco to Canada. Octavo. Bound in three-quarter leather with blue and brown marbled paper-covered boards and marbled end papers. Gilt title to spine. Ex-library, with library number at bottom of spine, and evidence of removed label on leather of front board. Rubbing to edges of leather, especially on front joint. Pages are browned, with some minor foxing. 564 pages, including index. FRLANG/012424.

Homer Chase, a former Maoist, created Hammer and Steel under the organizational name of the New England Party of Labor. This leaflet laments the revisionism of the Communist Party USA and calls for a new organization to promote Marxism-Leninism.
