Description
Trisha Brown Co.. No binding. Fine. [New York]: Trisha Brown Company, ca. 1980s. Group of eleven vintage original 8 x 10" (20 x 25 cm) and other variously-sized black-and-white print still photos. Four are 5 x 7" (10 x 12 cm), overall fine. Trisha Brown (1936-2017) was an American choreographer and dancer, and one of the founders of the Judson Dance Theater and the postmodern dance movement. Brown's dance/movement method, with which she and her dancers train their bodies, remains pervasively impactful within international postmodern dance. Brown created her own choreographic devices and combined them with improvisation and trial-and-error to create her works. Oftentimes, she had to write down or draw her new concept on a piece of paper before being able to translate that idea into her dancers' bodies. (Wikipedia) The postmodern dance choreographer is seen in portraits, performing with her dance company, and in scenes from her 1990 work Foray Forêt.
