London: Printed for A. Millar.; and R. and J. Dodsley, 1758. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair [Textblock Near Fine]. First Edition. Hardcover. Includes the armorial bookplate of Rev. John Disney. Courthope was the editor of Debrett's Peerage and Baronetage between 1833 and 1839. Also shows the ownership signature of renowned genealogist, George Cooper (with his motto in Latin beneath his signature and that of Kathryn Cawley Glass (dated 1923). Noted flaws notwithstanding, a rather handsome copy clearly showing a remarkable history. Moderate shelf/edge wear, tips through, boards free but present, moderate chip at head, spine label missing, small chip mid-spine at rear hinge, owner armorial bookplates (at front pasted down and ffep), several ownership signatures, two small bookseller descriptions tipped in at rear paste down, else tight, bright and unmarred. Halfbound, brown leather spine and tips, marbled paper boards, five raised bands, black leather spine labels, gilt lettering and decorative elements, in blind decorative elements, frontispiece, fold-out chart.
