Publisher's printed tan wrappers in old glassine. 8 7/8 x 6 5/8 inches (22.5 x 16.5 cm); [16] ff., unpaginated . Covers unevenly toned, but a sound example else. Originally the title to a rejected final short story in More Pricks than Kicks, Beckett used Echo's Bones for the final poem in the present work, and then as the title for the entire collection. Deluxe limited first edition, small quarto, copy number 144 of 250 printed on alfa paper; bound in original publisher's printed wrappers; minor creases, tiny open corner tear to one leaf; offsetting to front panel; 8 7/8 x 6 1/2 in. Beckett's first collection of poetry, published after the initial version was rejected as the final chapter to More Pricks Than Kicks in 1933, prompting Beckett to revisit Echo's Bones, and turn it into a poem.

Description
America, likely late-1800s. Ephemera. Very Good+. Original drawing in black ink on tan paper (300x200mm), with wide margins (402x304mm). Signed by the artist, an image of four elk, one with antlers, grazing on the edge of a forest. Some very light foxing; alittle marginal wrinkling and chipping along the edges, not infringing into the image itself, which is suitable for framing. Known primarily as an illustrator of plant and animal life, James Carter Beard was born in Cincinnati and studied art with his father, James Henry Beard. He began his adult life as an attorney who served in the Civil War and then turned to draftsmanship. He lived in New York and exhibited with the Brooklyn Art Association.

Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo., 341pp. Sharp stated First Printing, Square, tight and clean throughout with just a hint of wear and spine slightly faded. A few foxing spots on inside boards. Equally attractive unclipped wrapper, ($4.00), has a very minor edge-wear. Spine and one fold tanned with a bit of soiling to the lower spine. One tiny chip to spine. But still bright with no tears or creases. A very attractive collectable copy.
