Description
Decorah, IA: Solmentes Press, 2026. One of only 20 copies. This book tells the story of Ratified Indian Treaty No. 156 of 1829, in which the Ho-Chunk were coerced into selling the hugely lucrative "lead mine country," some 2,762,880 acres. It was the first of three treaties that banished the Ho-Chunk from their ancestral homelands in Wisconsin and Illinois, and led to a split in the Ho-Chunk Nation. The story exposes an array of characters - on the one hand, the "Great Father" (the president of the United States), generals, governors, Indian agents, fur traders and many others who play significant roles in the treaty's orchestration, revealing a tapestry of power, wealth, familial connections and influence that extended well beyond the council fire - on the other, the chiefs, head men, families, and friends of the Ho-Chunk. The 1829 boundary is traced over a visual backdrop of USGS 7.5-minute maps and the phonetically spelled names and the English names of every Ho-Chunk signatory are drawn within that defined space. Transcripts of the official "Journal" (recording the negotiations at the council meetings prior to the signing), correspondence, and Congressional debates are woven through the maps.

Description
London, 1894. Original wraps. Very Good +. The 1st 48 issues, spanning August 1890 to July 1894, of this impressive Astrology/Occult monthly, bound in 4 separate volumes. Published out of London, this collection represents the very earliest issues. From the August 1890 maiden issue up to the July 1894 issue, these first 48 issues were neatly bound into 4 cloth volumes, each volume containing 1 year (or 12 volumes). The modern bindings (with new pastedowns and endsheets) are solid and very presentable in their russet cloth. 4 uniform volumes, each volume showing just a bit of light soiling and/or scuffing to the panels. Internally, they're very sharp, each fragile issue having been nicely protected by the cloth covers. Focused on all things astronomy (as it was understood in the late 19th century) but suffused with a strong orientation to occult and magic.

Fine in near fine dust jacket.
Description
New York: Hyperion Books for Children, 1992. First edition. Fine in near fine dust jacket.. Signed first printing of this story of a talented but slightly unlucky pilot, who is twice rescued by an unexpected pair of aviation enthusiasts. Jon Agee studied painting and animation at the Cooper Union, an education evident in his bold illustrations - he imbues even inanimate objects with a sense of motion through his sketchy outlines. His affinity for the absurd makes for delightful reading. 11.75'' x 9''. Original cloth-backed boards. Original unclipped ($15.00) color pictorial dust jacket. Illustrated in color. [32] pages. Signed by Agee to title page. Jacket with touch of wear to spine ends, small price sticker to rear. Tight.
