Description
Syracuse: Loring & Green, Photographers, 64 - 66 So. Salina St., Syracuse, N.Y., 1871, large format albumen photograph, measuring 12 ½ x 14 ¼ inches, on card stock mount, with printed text, identifying the house, and with the photographer's credit. The mount measures 17 ½ x 20 ⅝ inches. Some spotting, soiling, and wear to edges of mount, some abrasions to corners and lower edge of the image, else in good condition. The photograph shows the apparently newly built residence of G. B. Kent, at 91 James Street. The Kent family stands on the front porch and in the front yard, enclosed by a wrought iron fence, a church is located next door. None of these structures appear to be extant at present, likely demolished to make way for the elevated highways bisecting Syracuse.

Description
New York, New York: TIME, Inc, 1942. Good. Toned with modern paper repairs, small points of damage to upper cover, minor dust soiling.. A WWII-era work safety bulletin published in July 1942 as a supplement to "Fortune", featuring a striking image on the front cover of a worker's hand dripping in blood after a workplace accident. The bulletin, which features powerful photo illustrations of industrial workers on the job at home supporting the troops abroad, begins with a call to improve workplace safety in the name of patriotism: "Accidents in Wartime Give Aid to the Enemy". Includes illustrated tables with statistics on workplace accidents, including the most common bodily injury (fingers) and the rising cost of workplace injuries, which results in man-days lost and workers killed. Also includes an interesting chart which shows that the most dangerous and accident-prone industries are the ones most crucial to the war effort (e.g. mining, marine, steel, public utilities, construction). Provides the reader with general overviews of workplace safety specific to industrial jobs, such as not smoking on the job, keeping work sites tidy, proper protective equipment etc. Ends with a call to increased workplace safety education. Provides an important window into the importance placed upon industrial workers at home to support the men abroad. Single vol. (12" by 9"), pp. [16], photo illus., in original photo illus. wrps.
