Dated June, 1848 at the end. The pamphlet emphasizes Cass's military service in the War of 1812, his outstanding record as a Michigan Democratic Congressman and Senator, his service as Secretary of War under Andrew Jackson and Superintendent of Indian Affairs, his friendship with President Jackson, his activities in support of the annexation of Texas, and his knowledge of domestic and foreign affairs. Though little known today, Cass was a leading figure in the Democratic Party for about thirty years, and wrote the doctrine of Popular Sovereignty, later taken up by Stephen A. Douglas. Miles records several printings under this or similar titles, the earliest dated March 1848. Miles 285.
