A handsome copy of this memoir by the Danish author Karen Blixen, published under the pen name Isak Dinesen; basis for the Academy Award winning film starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford. This copy is in near fine condition showing only some light rubbing to the board edges and some minor off-setting to the pastedowns and free papers. Housed in a clean and bright very good dust jacket that shows some minor tearing with a minimal loss of material to the lower front panel edge, some mild chipping to the spine ends and corners, and some light sunning to the spine. Overall, a presentable and collectible copy. Not remaindered, not price-clipped, not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship securely wrapped in a sturdy box.

Description: n.p., 1885. Hardcover. Good. Handwritten in longhand. 336p. (the last four hand numbered leaves are an index to the manuscript). Contemporary quarterbinding (patterned paper-covered boards backed in green leather). 22 cm. Leather on backstrip sunfaded to a greenish brown. Covers scuffed and rather heavily worn around edges. Contents sound. Inner margin almost nonexistent suggesting that this copy was bound after it was written. The test appears to be quite readable, although perhaps with some effort (and magnification) since the handwriting is rather small and individual letters are often not carefully and clearly written. Italian text. The author or authors of this copied work about Pope Sixtus V is unknown to us, as is the identity of the copyist.
