United States: Kinney Tobacco Company, 1890. Very good. Toned with minor points of surface wear, staining on rectos from previous adhesives used to secure the scraps to the inside of the cigarette boxes.. A whimsical set of fifty two (52) die-cut Victorian scraps, each collected from a different Kinney Brothers cigarette pack as a part of a "collect them all" type marketing enterprise. Each scrap depicts a pretty young lady styled to match her background (e.g. a perky 18th century maid in a dustpan, or a young woman in bicycling outfit in a bicycle wheel). A couple do not have women depicted, instead just have the object (e.g. a mandolin). Provides insight in to the women's role of the day. This is a partial set, and is missing at least twenty-one (21) examples; it is unknown what a full set consists of, because the manufacturer claims the set consists of fifty on the back of the cards, but there are clearly many more in existence. Each measures approx. 3" in height, and has been die-cut, chromolithographed, and lightly glazed, with some embossed as well to create texture.
