1972. BALDESSARI, John. Ingres and Other Parables. [24] pp. Illustrated with 10 black and white photographic plates. Oblong 4to., 270 x 305 mm., bound in publisher's cream-coloured paper wrappers. Preserved in new cloth box. London: Studio International Publications, 1972. First Edition. This represents Baldessari's first artist book presented in hanging wall calendar format. It is complete with a thumb-tack hole, as issued at lower margin. An image is placed on the upper side of the "calendar" with a parable on the lower half translated into four languages, English, French, German and Italian. Each parable has a moral - usually a witty remark - such as "Historical mispronounced sounds like hysterical" and "Beware of artists with a golden tongue." A fine copy.
