Description
Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1951. First edition. Near Fine/Very Good +. A Very Good+ copy of the book in a Very Good jacket. Book with some discoloration to the boards and minor offsetting to the endpapers. Dust jacket with wear at the spine ends and some short tears, especially the top front corner. Faint dampstain affecting the lower quarter of the spine of both book and jacket. Inscribed on the front free end paper by the author: "Mac! Ray Bradbury 6/12/88." A collection of short stories by one of Science Fiction's strongest voices. In Bradbury's classic style, flawed and deeply human characters struggle against forces exponentially larger than themselves: from a story of the atomic war seen from the Mexican-American border to a man whose living and moving tattoos predict tragedy. Poignant at the time of its publication, the book has maintained its prophetic power. "Readers today will find in The Illustrated Man a fresh perspective that illuminates global issues like artificial intelligence and climate change" (JSTOR Daily). Some stories would serve as the basis for the 1969 film adaptation of the same name. Near Fine in Very Good + dust jacket.
