Description
London: Chatto & Windus, 1937. First edition. Keynes B15. Reilly p. 279. "The Collected Works was issued in an edition of 500 copies, with 900 sets of sheets stored at the publisher's bindery; only 403 copies had been sold by March 1938, and the remaining unbound sheets were destroyed in April 1941 when Chatto & Windus' warehouse was bombed during the Blitz. The Collected Works became exceedingly scarce, and today it is impossible to obtain." - Cohen, Journey to the Trenches (N. Y., 1975). Killed during a night patrol near Arras in 1918, Rosenberg was one of the most promising poets and painters to die in the Great War. His war poems, such as "Louse Hunting", "Dead Man's Dump" and "Break of Day in the Trenches", rival the best poems of Owen, Graves and Sassoon. Dust jacket lightly foxed and worn and a bit dust-soiled, but a very good copy of a rare book. 8vo, frontispiece portrait, illustrated, original russet cloth, dust jacket. Dust jacket lightly foxed and worn and a bit dust-soiled, but a very good copy of a rare book.

Description
Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A.: Hawaii Visitors Bureau, 1960. [MAPS] [TOURIST BROCHURE]. Four of the folded tourist brochures measure (6" x 3") and open to (12" x 9"). Each is printed on colored paper and features tourist information on one side, along with a relief map that includes an inset map of the eight major islands, showing their placement in the island chain on the verso. The maps include a compass rose, legend, elevations, major roads, towns, crops, sports facilities, hotels, and topography, featuring volcanic mountains, forests, parks, beaches, and more. Light age-toning at some folds, the Maui brochure has a ¼" cut on one panel; all near fine. The four large brochures with maps are: Hawaii, The Big Island; Kauai, The Garden Island; Maui, The Valley Isle; and Oahu, Crossroads of the Pacific. The fifth brochure is smaller and pictures the island of Molokai, it measures (6" x 3") and opens to (8 7/8" x 5 7/8"). It features a table of distances to various towns and to the airport from Kaunakakai. Dating the maps is based on hotels that opened in the early 1960s and closed in the late 1960s.

Description
Washington, D. C.: Buell & Blanchard, Printers, 1860. 14, [2 blanks] pp. Disbound, title leaf spotted. Good+. Blair charges that the Slave Power is the "discordant element among our institutions which has destroyed the compact upon which it rested, carried civil war into the Territories, from which by agreement it was self-excluded, and now daringly threatens to crush the Union itself, unless permitted to command in the choice of a Chief Magistrate of the United States." Blair denounces the Democratic Party, truly a 'Southern Rights' Party, now demanding that slaveowners have the right to bring their slaves anywhere in the country. Blair renders a detailed examination of the issues facing the country, their development, and a plea to shun disunionists of the South and abolitionists of the North-- both of whom wish to destroy the Union. LCP 1256. Not in Bartlett or Dumond.

Description
Moscow, U.S.S.R.: Co-operative Publishing Society of Foreign Workers in the U.S.S.R., 1934. Good. Dust soiling, extremities worn.. A 1934 photo-illustrated book promoting the Moscow Theatre for Children, published in English for American audiences. The Moscow Theatre for Children, now named the Natalya Sats Musical Theater, was the world's first theatre company specializing in works for children. It is famously the theatre that inspired Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf", an orchestral adaptation of a Russian folk tale. This book features large in-text photo illustrations of the theatre company in action, complete with child actors on stage, and ending with photo portraits of the organization's staff (directors, designers, composer, and playwrights). Single vol. (6.75" by 10"), pp. 85, [1], photo-illus., in original cloth boards stamped in dark blue with yellow decorative rectangle inset showing children dancing.

Description
Salt Lake City: Signature Books, 2007. First Edition. 160pp. Duodecimo [21 cm] Gray cloth with the title in black on the backstrip. Fine/Fine. Paul James Toscano was a member of the 'September Six' and a Salt Lake City based attorney, who in this book of essays embraces his doubts and examines his faith in the aftermath of his own excommunication. Toscano also celebrates LDS founder Joseph Smith's awe-inspired view of the universe. Paul Toscano was excommunicated from the LDS Church on September 19, 1993. The reasons for his excommunication, as reportedly given by church leaders, were apostasy and false teaching. According to Toscano, the actual reason was insubordination in refusing to curb his sharp criticism of Church leaders' preference for legalism, ecclesiastical tyranny, white-washed Mormon history, and hierarchical authoritarianism, which privilege the image of the corporate church above its commitment to its members, to the teachings and the revelations of founder Joseph Smith, and to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Description
New York: Oxford University Press, 2001. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 10x7x2. First edition. An excellent copy. Binding tight and square, pages clean, bright, and unmarked. 2001 Hard Cover. xliv, 940 pp. Here is a volume that is as big and as varied as the nation it portrays. With over 1,400 entries written by some 900 historians and other scholars, it illuminates not only America's political, diplomatic, and military history, but also social, cultural, and intellectual trends; science, technology, and medicine; the arts; and religion. Here are the familiar political heroes, from George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, to Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. But here, too, are scientists, writers, radicals, sports figures, and religious leaders, with incisive portraits of such varied individuals as Thomas Edison and Eli Whitney, Babe Ruth and Muhammed Ali, Black Elk and Crazy Horse, Margaret Fuller, Emma Goldman, and Marian Anderson, even Al Capone and Jesse James. The Companion illuminates events that have shaped the nation (the Great Awakening, Bunker Hill, Wounded Knee, the Vietnam War); major Supreme Court decisions (Marbury v. Madison, Roe v. Wade); landmark legislation (the Fugitive Slave Law, the Pure Food and Drug Act); social movements (Suffrage, Civil Rights); influential books (The Jungle, Uncle Tom's Cabin); ideologies (conservatism, liberalism, Social Darwinism); even natural disasters and iconic sites (the Chicago Fire, the Johnstown Flood, Niagara Falls, the Lincoln Memorial). Here too is the nation's social and cultural history, from Films, Football, and the 4-H Club, to Immigration, Courtship and Dating, Marriage and Divorce, and Death and Dying. Extensive multi-part entries cover such key topics as the Civil War, Indian History and Culture, Slavery, and the Federal Government. A new volume for a new century, The Oxford Companion to United States History covers everything from Jamestown and the Puritans to the Human Genome Project and the Internet--from Columbus to Clinton. Written in clear, graceful prose for researchers, browsers, and general readers alike, this is the volume that addresses the totality of the American experience, its triumphs and heroes as well as its tragedies and darker moments.
