Description
China: n.p., 1900. Hardcover. Near fine. 8vo. 22 unnumbered pages using verso only. Accordion book bound in Asian style. Wooden boards, the upper board carved with the character for Good Luck. Top and bottom edges gilt. This is followed by 11 sets of two pages, the right hand page with the story of a particular lady in Chinese and English, and the left hand with a painting on silk illustrating the story and bordered in brocade. The silk paintings are bright and unfaded, showing vibrant pigmentation, and artistically executed with lovely shading effect, Includes the story of Mu Lan, basis for the Disney film. The typesetting and spelling of the English translation are poorly accomplished, the word 'Cbinese' in the title being perhaps the most glaring example. Misspellings, misuses of quotation marks and unusual word separations lead us to believe this is the first issue of a title preprinted into the 1930's. A fine example. Scarce.

Bronx, NY: Black Forum, 1977. Very good +. 10” x 7”. Stapled pictorial wrappers. Pp. 48. Very good plus: minimal wear, some light dust soiling to wrappers. This issue has a poem and a couple of articles by Horace Mungin, an interview with Nikki Grimes and a profile on a poet named Elaine Cornelius. There's an article on the economic progress of African Americans, another regarding how to prepare a manuscript for publication and there are two poems by Irene Monroe, though we are not sure if it's the same person as the important Black lesbian activist.

Description
Np. No binding. Fine. Np: [ca. 1991]. Vintage original 5 x 7" (13 x 18 cm) black-and-white photo, with photographer stamp on verso and holograph notation "Ice T/Body Count". Fine. Body Count, an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1990, was fronted by Ice-T, who first established himself as a rapper but co-founded the group with lead guitarist Ernie C out of their interest in heavy metal music. Ice-T took on the role of vocalist, he wrote the lyrics for most of Body Count's songs, while Ernie C was responsible for writing the group's music. Body Count's self-titled debut album was released on Sire Records in 1992, and garnered much attention due to a controversy around the song "Cop Killer". Their label, Sire Records, and their parent company, Warner Bros. Records, defended the song; however Ice-T chose to remove it from the album because he felt that the controversy had eclipsed the music itself. (Wikipedia) Ice-T and Body Count performed onstage at the first Lollapalooza concert in 1991, and this looks to be from the early-1990s.
