Description
[London], 1977. Three 8vo leaves containing the following advertisements: Collection of novels from the most celebrated writers selected and revised by Mrs. Griffith. Printed for G. Kearsly, at No. 46 in Fleet-Street; and the other proprietors. The advertisement dated May 20, 1777. With a detailed summary on verso. A new edition of Letters written by the late right honourable Philip Dormer Stanhope, Earl of Chesterfield, to his son Philip Stanhope, Esq... together with several other pieces on various subjects. Published by Mrs. Eugenia Stanhope from the originals... Printed for J. Dodsley, in Pall-Mall; and sold by J. Wilkie, in St. Paul's Church-Yard, and by all other booksellers and news-carriers in Great Britain. Undated. (likely published around 1774) Number I. of A natural history of beasts and birds ... by the Rev. Samuel Ward ... Printed for F. Newberry, the corner of St. Paul's Church Yard... (and on the same page) The modern family physician; or the art of healing made easy... Printed for F. Newbery, at the corner of St. Paul's Church-yard. Undated, with a list of 48 books for children also sold by F. Newbery on verso. (likely printed around 1775) Each leaf with chipping or trimming where they have been excised, either from a gathering of similar leaves or a book. The wording of the advertisements are time sensitive ("On Saturday next will be published"), suggesting they were perhaps distributed independently of a published text.
