Description
Nuremberg: Stein, 1816. Tiedemann, Friedrich (1781-1861). Mottled boards ca. 1816, light wear at edges, some chipping at hinges, corners bumped. Occasional minor foxing but very good. From the library of Herbert M. Evans (1882-1971), with his bookplate. First Edition of Tiedemann's pioneering work on human and comparative neuroembryology. "Willis, Steno, Haller and others emphasized the need to examine the brains of animals, and Steno also included the growing brain in his research protocol. Nevertheless, at the beginning of the nineteenth century little comparative or embryologico-anatomical data had been amassed. At this time Tiedemann, as well as other anatomists, stimulated inquiries into both these fields by means of his widely popular book on the development of the human fetal brain" (Clarke & O'Malley, pp. 827-828). This copy is from the library of Herbert M. Evans, co-discoverer of Vitamin E and human growth hormone. Garrison-Morton.com 11178. .
