Bound in publisher's brown cloth blocked in blind and stamped in gilt. Very Good with light wear and light staining to cloth. Bradford's biography of Tubman was first published in Auburn in 1869. It was substantially rewritten at the request of Tubman, taking the formerly jumbled narrative and placing it in chronological order, providing a clearer account of Tubman's life.

Page 175 with a 1-inch closed tear to top margin, not affecting text and expertly repaired. A tiny burn hole to page 311, barely affecting two letters. A few minor marginal paper flaws. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Overall, a very good copy.
