Description
Letters. Very Good +. An impressive crop of 3 typed Frank Lloyd Wright letters, each written on original Taliesin stationery, 2 of the 3 including their accompanying Taliesin envelopes. All 3 letters are crisp and bright, one shows a bit of light soiling (glue residue) along the top and bottom. All 3 letters firmly signed by the great architect himself; all 3 are evenly folded, with neat, light creases. One of the letters is from 1933, one from 1946 and the last one from 1953. Only the 1946 letter shows a rough edge, with just a touch of loss. The 1933 letter is written to a private client (Louise Geiss), the 1946 letter is written to the School of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis and the 1953 letter is written to renowned architect Wallace Harrison (1895-1981) at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Each letter measures roughly 8 1/2" x 10 1/2". And finally, the 4th lertter is a lengthy, 3-column letter from Taliesin in August 1937 in her personal hand by Olgivanna Lloyd Wright, Frank Lloyd Wright's 3rd wife and, ultimately, widow. The letter is dense and becomes quite personal and descriptive. Clean and very legible in strong blue ink. Folded into thirds, measuring 12" wide x 10" tall and also on original Taliesin stationary. 4 letters in all, a nice Frank Lloyd Wright and Taliesin-related offering.
