Provenance: Latimer Clark. Adley worked on the Indian telegraph and wrote a history of the electric telegraph. His letter to Charles Tilston Bright, a founding member of Cyrus Field's Atlantic Telegraph Company, contains a request for space at the forthcoming Great Exhibition "as I wish to exhibit an invention or two." Printed on Rives paper, uncut edges. In the publisher's scarce rice paper dust jacket, free of text, faint foxing to both panels, a near fine example. From a limited edition of 285 individually numbered copies, this being 217, signed by the illustrator, Keith Achepohl. Additional signature by the printer, Harry Duncan, on the colophon in pencil.
